Wacom Europe has launched a competition for all designers in the EU who use creative network Behance - the Pioneers of Now Talent Audition. To participate, all you have to do is submit any past project or self portrait from your portfolio that you feel best represents your style.
The winning projects will be selected by an esteemed panel of judges including artist Jon Burgerman, illustrator Athos Boncompagni, comic book writer and artist Dave Gibbons, and 3D artist Glen Southern.
Winners will be awarded with Wacom Cintiq graphics tablets, commissioned to participate in upcoming projects, and featured in large-scale campaigns resulting in great added exposure.
Behance is at pains to underline that this competition does not constitute 'spec work'. A statement on the Pioneers of Now microsite says: "We are adamantly against any 'spec contests' that seek free labor. When hiring talent online, we believe that companies should consider a candidate's portfolio of past work and level of interest in the subject matter. Creative professionals should be able to apply for job opportunities with their past portfolio, resume, and/or a cover letter or indication of interest in the job."
