Thibault Zimmermann was born in 1986 in Paris. He spent his college years in Nancy, studying literature. He then studied law for a short time before leaving to go to art school in strasbourg. Returning to do a graphic design course in Nancy, he met Lucie Thomas. both freelanced for a time, before setting up Zim&Zou together.
