Onyx Boox Tab X review: e-ink tablet goes big on specs... and price

Can the Onyx Boox Tab X justify its premium price?

Our Verdict

The Onyx Boox Tab X offers an exceptional E-Ink experience, and lets you use Android and the Google Play Store to boot... all on a huge 13.3-inch screen. Along with the included stylus, this makes it the perfect companion for note-taking, e-reading and in particular, PDF annotation. It is very expensive, though, and if you mainly want other tablet features such as apps, music and YouTube this is not the right choice for you.

For

You may not have heard of Onyx, the maker of the Onyx Boox Tab X, but the Chinese manufacturer has been developing ereaders and digital note-taking tablets since 2008. The Onyx Boox Tab X is its highest-specced tablet to date and, well, it's a bit of an oddity.
