Stop letting email admin waste your creative time

If you’re a freelancer, an illustrator with a shop, or a creator with a newsletter, you probably run your email marketing yourself. But when things get busy, that is also probably the first thing to slip.

Part of the problem is the back-and-forth between tools. Usually, you’d draft a newsletter in an AI assistant, copy it out, rebuild it in your email platform and then do the same thing for the next task. But all of that is time spent on admin rather than on being creative, and isn’t that appealing.

MailerLite’s MCP server solves this problem. It connects your MailerLite account to an AI assistant, which can then work with your data and take actions in your account instead of just offering advice.

What is MCP?

MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to the tools you use. You can think of it as a bridge between your chat window and your account. You describe what you want, and your assistant does it immediately.

"Through MCP, marketers can interact with their email system just as they do now when communicating with AI - requesting segments, drafts of campaigns, or even last month’s performance data without having to click through ten screens to make it happen,” says Nikola Milojević, CTO @ MailerLite. “This is saving small teams hours per week.”

You can describe it instead of building it

Creatives likely have a clear vision of how they want their newsletters to look, and the data they need to improve future sends. The laborious part is in setting these sends up screen by screen. With MCP, you describe the outcome in plain words:

  • Ask: “How did last month’s newsletters perform compared to the month before?”
  • Analyse: “Which subject lines got above-average opens, and what do they have in common?”
  • Act: “Set up a welcome automation: a welcome email right away, a guide on day 3, an offer on day 7.”
  • Combine: “Compare clicks from this campaign with sales in my store that week.”

The last one is where it goes further than the MailerLite dashboard. Your assistant can use several tools in the same conversation, so it can put your email data next to your store, your analytics or your brand documents. If you’ve written a tone-of-voice guide for your studio or your newsletter, that’s the kind of document it can work from.

Who's it for?

This works for people with no one to hand the setup work to: solo marketers, small teams, creators, bloggers, coaches, newsletter writers, freelancers and side-project founders. It helps you get more out of your newsletter sends, without spending lots of time refining and developing the email and strategy.

If you know what you want (“email people who bought once but never again”) but don’t want to learn every screen that will get you there, you can describe it instead. Automations, segments and reports you’ve been avoiding become much easier to start.

You stay in control

Your list is your audience, so you want to stay in control of what they receive from you. Your assistant asks before it acts, and you choose what it can do without asking. Nothing will go to your subscribers without your approval.

What it can do

The MailerLite MCP server offers 75+ tools covering 100+ actions. These include creating campaigns, scheduling or sending drafts, building automations and segments, and pulling performance data.

It’s free and available on every MailerLite plan, including the Free plan.

How to set it up

You need a MailerLite account on any plan. There are official connectors for Claude and ChatGPT, and both assistants allow connectors on their free plans too. You can also set it up manually in any MCP-compatible tool, such as VS Code or Cursor. No technical skills are needed for the connectors.

Follow the step-by-step setup guide, or go straight to the Claude or ChatGPT integration page. You can also see the explainer video below on

Your job: Try one prompt

The hardest part is starting, so keep the first step small and manageable. Once you’ve connected, run a prompt that only reads data. For example:

- Summarize how my last 3 campaigns performed.

Then try one that does something, like this:

- Draft a campaign announcing [my new product / this week’s update]. Save it as a draft.

The draft sits in your account for you to review, so nothing goes out until you say so. After that first result, you’ll see the value more clearly than any explanation could show you.
