Create a layout from your sketch
In the third and final part of this series on interactive design, Taobot's Danny Franzreb and Holger Grünwald show you how to build a final layout using the artwork from the two previous instalments.
The first part of this three-part series dealt with creating basic scribbles of your interactive project. In the second part we explained how to use sketches to brief photographers, 3D designers or programmers. Now in the third and final part, we want to show you how to bring everything together by creating a layout based on your sketches and the assets created by our photographers and 3D designers.
The sketches we drew are good to give clients a basic feeling of the site or to brief people in an early phase of the project. However, you'll still need to create a final layout for the site when you have all the assets you need and your client has agreed to your visual direction. So you'll probably need to stay pretty close to the mood of your sketches in your final layout, because that's what you and your client chose as the direction. This shouldn't really be a problem though, since you did good groundwork with your sketches and briefings, so everything will be pretty easy from here on.
Additionally, you should have a clear image of how your layout should look and have most of the assets in place for your layout. So your main task for now will be to put everything together and tweak it a little to achieve the best possible result for the final layout.
