HUAWEI may be about to launch a pair of game-changing new tablets
HUAWEI is reportedly gearing up to launch two major new tablets, and the flagship tablet – the new MatePad Pro – looks set to feature a refreshed keyboard design, new colours and new display technology. It’s said that details may be announced at the HUAWEI Innovative Product Launch on 19 September.
The brand’s MatePad tablets have become go-to devices for business users, professional creators and students alike thanks to their combination of outstanding displays with excellent drawing and note software. Now it seems HUAWEI is going further and building on its Creation of Beauty concept with the launch of two new tablets that boast fresh features and unique aesthetic designs.
Towards the ultimate display
HUAWEI has always led the way in display technology, striving for the optimum balance between display clarity, reliability and the handwriting and drawing experience. Last year, it unveiled its groundbreaking PaperMatte Display with a distinctive matte-textured surface, which makes drawing feel more natural. We expect that the new HUAWEI tablets will take this commitment a step further.
There have been hints that a new OLED display will incorporate anti-glare technology, anti-sparkle technology, display optimisations and next-level touch-responsiveness. The new features would presumably provide a superior and more comfortable display along with smoother touch controls for a pen-on-paper writing and drawing experience. The screens should be kind on the eyes too, reducing glare, which would make them ideal for use during commuting, outdoors or at a cafe when overbright sunlight can normally make it hard to work.
Software that inspires creativity
The hardware is likely to come backed up with an upgraded edition of HUAWEI’s popular GoPaint App, which has won praise from both professionals and enthusiasts. The app works with the Huawei M-Pencil (third generation) and is said to allow professional effects to be achieved through physical simulations and innovative interactions.
The app already has a wide range of brushes that lower the barrier of entry for digital art, and there’s talk of a new exclusive brush inspired by real-world paint splatters that would be applied by hovering the stylus over the screen and tapping to create an ink splatter. It sounds perfect for creating an evocative sense of depth and atmosphere in digital illustrations.
HUAWEI’s existing brushes and tools are easy to use, providing a way to explore creativity in a playful and experimental way. That makes them perfect for children and inexperienced painters as well as professional artists. And HUAWEI’s also been building its own community of artists through its GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity, which encourages users around the world to create pieces of art that convey the beauty of different cultures and regions.
HUAWEI tablets aren’t just for art, of course. HUAWEI Notes has been continuously improved, and it’s said that a new update could introduce game-changing new features for business users and students, such as super efficient toolbars to simplify note taking, and rich templates to help users draft ideas quickly and easily. We’ve also heard that a new feature will be a helpful assistant that makes it easier to review notes from meetings. It’s worth remembering that, like the GoPaint App, HUAWEI Notes is completely free for all HUAWEI MatePad owners.
Another new MatePad is also expected, one that is designed as a productivity-focused tablet for young, trendsetting users, with innovative shimmery pearlescent polish and elegant, interesting colourways.
It sounds like HUAWEI’s anticipated new tablets are set to cover all bases: work, learning, entertainment and artistic creation all on one device. They could represent a new era of tablet-based creation. We hope to learn more when all is revealed at HUAWEI’s launch event on 19 September.
