Our Verdict
The Edifier S880DB MkII is a pair of extremely classy speakers. They look refined and can take pride of place in your living room as well as rizz up your workspace. Most importantly, though, they produce fantastic, full sound, with room-filling bass and brilliant distortion-free highs and mids. The input and volume control is provided by a remote-control puck, which, while handy, can be fiddly and counterintuitive to use. Other than that, it's a fantastic pair of speakers from a brand that can't seem to miss at the moment...
For
- Premium sound
- Premium design
Against
- Remote control puck is finicky
Why you can trust Creative Bloq
Over the last couple of years, Edifier has fast become my favourite audio brand. They have brought out product after product that balances premium sound and design with a more approachable price tag than the likes of Bang & Olufsen or Bowers & Wilkins.
And the Edifier S880DB MkII are yet another feather in the Chinese audio connoisseurs' decorated cap. Maybe a colourful feather enough to make it among the best computer speakers around...

So... they're good then?
The Edifier S880DB MkII are made for critical listening or mixing, as well as enjoying crystal-clear music. Connectivity options are comprehensive, including USB, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth inputs. In short, it's our favourite pick of the best computer speakers for creatives.
In addition to the refined design and the reassuringly solid build, the impressive sound you get from this compact set of speakers is yet another confirmation that this Chinese audio brand isn’t messing around when it comes to offering top-level quality.
Obviously this is not a budget product, as it’s a true prestige speaker set, coming in at $449 in the US and £335 in the UK, but if you stay patient and wait for a sales event, Edifier regularly offers quite decent discounts on most of its range.
These are designed to be featured where they can be seen and adored as much as listened to. I have them on my desk right now, and I love the colour and the wooden pattern, especially as I also have a black desk. Mostly though, I love the sound they make. It’s rich, balanced and deep with great mids and highs and absolutely no distortion. The Bluetooth latency is barely noticeable either, meaning I can use my computer’s one USB-C port for other duties…
Price
While they're not exactly cheap, the Edifier S880DB MkII undercut many premium brands on price. The regular sticker price for this model is £335 in the UK and about $449 in the US, but as I write this, they can be had for only £251.99 in the UK.

Should I buy them?
If you want true quality speakers in your house, whether it's on your lounge bookshelf, to feature with your turntable, or to use at your creative and gaming desk, they tick just about every box. The only downside for me is the fiddly remote control puck, but that's a small complaint in the larger scheme of things...
