Wait, we're writing about beds now? Something has gone terribly, terribly wrong at Creative Bloq HQ, you must be asking yourself.

Well. I don't see the XRocker Battlebunk XL RGB high sleeper gaming bunk bed as merely a bed, but as a desk that also serves as a holistic overhaul of working/gaming/living space. And also a bed.

Design & assembly

The XRocker BattleBunk XL is very much a statement piece, and that statement is: "I live in a hybrid universe where sleep, work, and gaming have merged into a single vertical ecosystem." The metal frame is sturdier than you’d expect at this price point, with a matte finish that leans more “industrial loft” than “kid’s bedroom.” The desk spans the full width beneath the bunk, giving you enough real estate for dual monitors without feeling cramped.

Adding to the feeling of spatial freedom is the fact that there is a dedicated PC stand underneath the desk, so your gaming/creator tower won't be taking up precious real estate up top.

In addition, there's shelving aplenty for books/games/accessories/figurines/pet goldfish, mainly arranged alongside the right-hand side of the bed as you look at it, desk-on. Stocked with the metal bits are two fabric storage boxes, which will fit neatly on two of those amply spaced shelves.

Befitting a construction of this size and heft, assembly is… a journey. Not a nightmare, but definitely a two‑person job unless you enjoy balancing long metal beams while performing interpretive Allen‑key yoga. The instructions are clear enough, though the sheer number of bolts means you’ll want a powered screwdriver unless you’re trying to build forearm strength.

I would suggest highlighting one step more clearly in the manual; before installing the final long slat for the bed unit, it would be helpful to advise not to insert all the shorter, thinner slats across the bed too early. Leaving two of them out on both sides and installing them only after fixing the lengthwise tube would make the process much easier.

Aside from this small issue, I did not encounter any other problems. Assembled, the unit looks great and has a modern, youthful design. The storage space is even more plentiful than it looks in images; all the materials feel solid and durable, and the RGB lighting is very trendy.

Once assembled, the entire structure feels solid, with minimal wobble even when climbing up or shifting around on the top bunk.

Features & user experience

As expected, given that this review is on Creative Bloq, the integrated desk is the star here. It’s wide, stable, and surprisingly ergonomic for a bunk-bed setup. Cable management is fairly basic but easily workable, and as already mentioned, the included shelving gives you a place to stash controllers, books, or the growing collection of mugs you swear you’ll take to the kitchen someday.

The ladder is functional but narrow, so adults will feel it more than kids. The top bunk has guard rails that inspire confidence, though the mattress height matters; go too thick, and you’ll feel a bit too close to the ceiling. Underneath, the desk area feels like a cosy command centre, especially once the LED strips are complemented by a small lamp. Noise transfer is minimal; typing or controller clicks don’t rattle the frame at all, thanks to the extremely sturdy construction quality.

One extra feature is wireless charging, which is extremely useful in these always-on times. Next to the control panel for the RGB lighting, where you can cycle through colour combinations, is a wireless charging pad that provides about 15W charging in my usage experience, par for the course for wireless charging pads and enough to ward off any dead-phone worries.

Overall, the Battlebunk XL nails its core promise: a bulky but ultimate space-saving, all‑in‑one workstation/gaming den that doesn’t feel like a compromise.

Price

At $569.99/£599 before discounts enter the conversation, the BattleBunk XL sits in the mid‑range for gaming loft beds. It’s not bargain‑bin cheap, but you’re paying for a genuinely sturdy frame and a desk that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

Compared to buying a separate loft bed and a full‑size desk, the value proposition is incredibly strong. The only caveat is that you’ll want to budget for a decent mattress and maybe some extra lighting, despite the impressive RGB accent lighting, to really make the space shine.

Buy it if

  • You’re short on space but refuse to downsize your gaming or work setup
  • You want a loft bed that feels stable enough for adults, not just kids
  • You like the idea of a dedicated “battle station” tucked neatly under your sleeping area

Don't buy it if

  • You want a bed you (or your kid) can flop into without climbing a ladder every night
  • You prefer a full‑size, standalone desk with deeper cable management and more customisation
  • You’re sensitive to assembly complexity or don’t have the space (or indeed the patience) for a multi‑hour build
