Disney's new Marvel poster mashups are hilariously unexpected

A series of cheeky mash-up posters has been spotted around Disneyland, combining Marvel classics with an unexpected pairing – the beloved Cars universe. Featuring parodies such as 'Guardians of the Gas Station' and 'Iron Van', the posters expertly mix the two franchises in a delightfully silly spoof that has won the hearts of Disney fans.

While the instantly recognisable mashups prove Marvel has some of the best movie posters today, what's more impressive is how organically Cars' characters fit into the MCU. So is this a brand new teaser for an upcoming Cars-Marvel mashup? I regret to inform you, probably not, but it does prove that Disney has an expert eye for detail.

The posters appeared on fencing around new construction work taking place between, you guessed it, Cars Land and Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. Adding a bit of extra theming and pizzaz while the Avengers Campus expansion continues, the posters were a playful Easter egg for eagle-eyed park goers (special shoutout to CritterClubHQ for sharing these snaps)

The selection included the aforementioned Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy parodies alongside "Captain Ameri-car: The Winter Tyres" and "Carpool and Gasoline" (a bonus point to the first person who correctly identifies the parodied Marvel movies in the comments). From the composition right down to the typography, each design is a surprisingly faithful recreation, minus the obvious Car cameos.
