GTA 6 pre-orders are open! Here's everything you need to play the most-anticipated game of the decade
GTA 6 pre-orders are finally open ahead of the 20 November release date, bringing an end to years of rumour and speculation over how much the game would cost and whether it would even make it to release.
Given that the game is popularly believed to have cost more than the Burj Khalifa to make, we shouldn't be surprised that GTA 6 takes the price of video games into new territory. The Standard Edition will cost you $79.99 / £69.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 / £79.99.
Don't hold your breath for discounts, either. Even the physical edition comes only with a download code, eliminating the possibility of a used market for the game. On the positive side, you can bag extra content if you order the latter now rather than waiting to the release date.
If you also need a console and accessories, or if you're new to the franchise and want to play the previous games to get up to speed, you might want to take advantage of the fact that we're in the middle of the Amazon Prime Day sale, when there's more chance of deals. With that in mind, here's everything you need to be ready to play GTA 6, from a console to accessories and games.
Standard Edition: $79.99 / £69.99
Ultimate Edition: $99.99 / £89.99
The Standard Edition gets you the base game, while the GTA 6 includes a ton of extra content and customisation options. Pre-order before 20 November to get an additional Vintage Vice City Pack with the ’55 Vapid Stanier vehicle and more outfits and hairstyles thrown in.

What device do you need to play GTA 6?
For now at least, GTA 6 will be released only for PS5 and X Box Series X and Series S. No PC or Switch version has been announced.
What's the best controller for GTA 6?
The PlayStation's DualSense Edge is my pick as the best controller for GTA 6 to get the full experience the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers the game utilises in the PS5 edition. This is likely to enhance immersion, with haptics simulating even road textures and traction. The Edge also has the benefit of the two Fn nubs under the thumbsticks, which can be mapped to let you swap weapons and see your GPS without leaving the sticks.
What's the difference between GTA 6 Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition?
The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition adds a wide range of add ons, including premium vehicles and different looks for Lucia and Jason. Several stores will only be open in the Ultimate Edition.
Additions include the 95 Gotti Cheetah, '67 VAPID Dominator Buggy, an Army fatigue-tinged Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak, as well as personalised weapons. You also get access to Rideout Customs, a mod-shop for customising vehicles, along with Sara's unisex hair salon for hairstyles for Lucia and Jason and makeup and nails for Lucia, and the Electric Fang Tattoo Shop featuring over 50 tattoos.
According to Rockstar, "Ultimate Edition bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter".
