"But I need it for the alarm!" That's what people normally say when I suggest they stop taking their phone to bed with them. Since banning ye olde iPhone from my bedroom a couple of years back, I've noticed a marked improvement in my sleep. No more last-minute doomscrolls before sleep. No more first-minute doomscrolls after sleep. Just me, my clear head and my sanctimoniousness. Bliss.
But of course, I did have to buy an alarm clock. I opted for a classic, arguably the classic, the Braun AB1. This tiny travel clock launched in 1971.
