Lego games like Lego Star Wars and Batman have become classics, and they've inspired many a contemporary indie developer. So much so that one developer has built a framework to help create new titles inspired by their aesthetic and mechanics.

Brickworks is a framework for one of the best game development programs, free and open-source Godot, and it's bringing nostalgic vibes for many fans of TT Games.

"I also always had a dream of playing a classic Lego Ninjago game and obviously that's way too late to happen so, just do it yourself," they add.

People are full of praise for the rigging on the figures, and the developer says there's also a functioning online coop that works well.

I wouldn't recommend using the framework for a commercial release with assets that have such a clear likeness to Lego, but the developer says the modular design means assets and likelinesses can easily be swapped.
