The OBSBOT Tiny 3 webcam is a miniature-sized 4K wonder

Webcams have spent the last 10 years drifting toward sameness. It's all small plastic boxes promising '4K brilliance' and delivering… well, something less inspiring. The OBSBOT Tiny 3 arrives on the scene trying to break that pattern, not by being bigger or flashier, but by shrinking down and leaning hard into smart features.

It’s a genuinely tiny 4K camera with ambitions far larger than its footprint, aimed at creators, presenters and anyone who wants more life from their video calls. After a week of using it in my everyday setup, it quickly proved it wasn’t just another desk accessory. The best webcam I've ever used, though? Possibly... Read on to find out.

In the box & design

The OBSBOT Tiny 3 really lives up to its name. Because it is truly tiny. Measuring less than 4 x 4 x 5 centimetres across, it can tuck into pretty much any bit of space you have for a webcam, and with a rotating head, it's highly manoeuvrable too. You simply plug it in using a USB-C connector on the back and off you go.

It's made from dark silvery metal, with the base made from a black hard plastic composite housing all the required hardware. The bottom of the webcam is magnetic, so it will snap onto any magnetic metal surface you have, and also comes with a clip stand that you can attach to your monitor, onto which the camera will then magnetically snap.

The top bit, with the camera itself, then rotates on top of the base unit, using the onboard tracking software, with the lens capable of moving up and down (and automagically tucking itself downward when switched off).

Also included, rather fetchingly, is a fabric carry case, underlining OBSBOT's understanding that we aren't all bound to a single place of work any more. The camera and magnetic clip each have their own snug pockets, with a mesh pocket for the USB cable inside the lid.

It's much smaller than my regular webcam, a 4K Dell Pro offering, and eschews the usual cylindrical aesthetic dominating the webcam world at the moment.

Features and performance

Using AI-powered tracking and both face and hand recognition, this third iteration of OBSBOT’s diminutive but highly adaptable webcams follows your movements, keeping your face (or your hands, depending on settings) perfectly centred and focused, which is fantastic for presentations, active video calls or live streams.

Paired with the dedicated Vox microphone, it offers a substantial and feature-rich upgrade for anyone serious about the quality of their video calls, streaming, or content creation.

It's got PC and phone app support, from where you can customise picture settings, learn about the tracking and voice control, and access your recordings.

I found it quite fun to use as well, with the tracking functionality and the hand-gesture and voice control, I could control it (to an extent) without having to type or interact with on-screen menus, which I think is going to be a huge asset to streamers in particular. All in all, it's pretty cool. For a webcam. So despite being only a teeny tiny thing, it is a lot of things.

Price

What it’s not, though, is cheap. The camera alone will set you back $349 in the US or £299 in the UK. Go for the full Streaming Combo, which has the mic, webcam and remote along with a mini-tripod, and you’re saying goodbye to just over $600 in the US (or just under £600 in the UK). This is not a casual purchase, but with the 4K video capture and its host of smart features, it’s a top choice for people who spend a lot of time needing to look extremely professional, whether that’s for corporate presentations or hi-res stream hosting.
