Could your home's interior design use an injection of 'goblin glamour' or 'orcish minimalism'? While these weren't up there with Wilderkind on Pinterest's 2026 trend predictions, they're now taking off on the platform thanks to a collaboration that wasn't on anyone's bingo card for 2026.

As one of the best social media platforms for artists and designers, the digital pinboard platform remains a popular source of creative inspiration for everything from digital art and photography to interior design.

From 2 March, World of Warcraft will allow players to buy in-game homes and decorate them with a range of furniture options. Some players have access now through pre-orders of the World of Warcraft Midnite expansion and have already been sharing images of their cosy abodes.

Pinterest is now making it easier to do that by allowing gamers to connect their Pinterest and World of Warcraft accounts to unlock a 'Craft Your World' achievement. This gives access to an in-game Pin-o-Matic Camera that can directly publish snaps to Pinterest boards. The camera toy can capture images anywhere in the game, but it's been designed with the creation of housing mood boards in mind.

Pictures can then be pinned by other Pinterest users to use as inspiration for their own in-game home design. The integration also lets ideas flow between real-world design and in-game builds: there's a range of official World of Warcraft Pinterest mood boards combining in-game screenshots with real-life interiors.

In a separate home design-related collaboration, World of Warcraft has also developed a microsite with the online real estate marketplace Zillow. This features interactive maps of the fantasy world of Azeroth and 3D virtual tours of fictional house listings that resemble those of Zillow's SkyTour Gaussian splatting-based visualisation tool, treating WoW homes like real listings. The winner of an Azeroth Interiors Housing content creator competition will get a listing on the site.

Together, the new features and collaborations reflect the rise of cosy gaming and lifestyle-driven play, with aesthetics and self-expression becoming as important as combat or progression. It's another example of how various games are evolving to become broader platforms for creativity.

At the same time, virtual housing is being treated as an extension of lifestyle and identity with almost the same seriousness as real-world property – and there's some crossover. Real-world interior design inspiration is increasingly digital-first, blending fantasy and reality.
