Today marks the 50th anniversary of Apple, which is wild and somehow exactly what you’d expect, because the company that Jobs, Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne scribbled into existence in 1976 has insistently, relentlessly reshaped everything from how we listen to music, how we communicate, how we take pictures, and how we create art.
What's also interesting is how a design accessories industry has emerged around Apple, giving us new ways to use iPhones and Apple Watches that perhaps even Apple hadn't envisioned. There's a retro-ish aluminium watch case that turns Apple Watch into an iPod-alike, a tiny Macintosh-inspired iPod case that winks at 1984 and a Leica-built camera grip that turns your iPhone into something you’d actually choose to shoot with – all of it not made by Apple but something every Apple fan should really have in their drawer.
The best designer Apple accessories are below, but don't miss the entire Apple Watch range, which is slashed by up to 57%, and our list of modern iPod alternatives if you want to drop Apple (you monsters).
Feed your nostalgia for old Apple and turn your Apple Watch into a classic iPod with this slim, metal case. It comes in White, Black, and Orange versions, with a mix of sizes for different Apple Watch models.
This sturdy carabiner case for your Apple AirTag from Belkin is designed for anyone who wants security, their tags are going to stay in place and remain undamaged. It comes in Black, Red, Green and Pink.
Inspired by the classic Macintosh mouse design and coming in a fetching '90s 'Stone' colour, this retro-looking AirPod case. It's well-made and features a unique lock clip to prevent accidental opening. This is part of a range of retro accessories…
This continues the Macintosh-inspired look and features a durable PC shell and a non-slip coating for a premium feel. This MagSafe offers standard features like card storage, but you're here for the nostalgic design.
As above, this strap for iPhones and AirPod Pro 3 can also be used with most other smartphones. But it comes into its own if you've bought the Macintosh-inspired MagSafe and AirPods case from Spigen for the complete '90s look.
This iPhone grip is designed in collaboration with camera expert Leica and features an innovative tactile rotary wheel that adjusts exposure, focus, and zoom. Not only is it easy to hold, but it also gives smartphone photography that click-click of a traditional camera.
