If you work in motion graphics, 3D, video editing or any GPU‑heavy creative field, ASUS’ new ProArt P16 might be the Windows powerhouse you’ve been waiting for. I recently spent about a month using it as my main machine; editing on Creative Bloq, testing design software, running AI tools, and yes, playing more Doom: The Dark Ages than I should probably admit, and it’s quickly become one of my favourite creative laptops ever, as this video review highlights rather succinctly:
The headline upgrade this year is the jump to NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, paired with AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor and up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM. In real workflows, that translates to a huge leap in graphics performance: Premiere Pro handles movie‑sized timelines smoothly, Photoshop churns through complex layered files without hesitation, and AI‑powered tools like Topaz Video AI and Stable Diffusion fly.
The 16‑inch 3K OLED touchscreen is another standout. It delivers 100% DCI‑P3 coverage, excellent colour accuracy (Delta-E under 1), and nearly 500 nits HDR brightness, which is exactly the kind of display spec we look for in our guides to the best laptops for graphic design and best laptops for CAD. The 120Hz refresh rate is a welcome upgrade too, especially for animators and video editors.
ASUS’ Creator Hub continues to be one of the best creative control apps on any laptop, with colour calibration, performance tuning, ASUS Dial customisation and on‑device AI tools all in one place. You also get Wi‑Fi 7, USB 4.0, HDMI 2.1 and an SD Express 7.0 card reader... although the new proprietary power port is a bit of a head‑scratcher.
It’s not a light machine, and it’s not a cheap one either (around $3,999 at the time of writing). But compared to RTX 5080/5090 laptops, it offers exceptional performance at a (slightly) more approachable price, and for many creatives, the 5070 will be more than enough.
