This Harry Potter-inspired 3D model looks magically real

The magical world of Harry Potter has inspired movies, video games, and many artists too.

Working with some of the best 3D modelling software, the character and facial modeller Mohamed Khalaf decided to challenge himself to create a 3D model of Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, a pivotal member of the Order of the Phoenix, and he achieved spellbinding results.

Mohamed says he's a big fan of the Harry Potter, so decided to see if he could create the intricate details of Moody's character, as played by Brendan Gleeson in the Harry Potter movies.

He sculpted his model in ZBrush using TexturingXYZ as a base for the details before refining and customising the textures in Mari and Substance Painter to perfect the auror's look.

The clothing was created in Marvelous Designer, with final high-poly detailing sculpted in ZBrush, while the grooming was done using XGen Core and. The piece was rendered with Arnold (see our guide to the best rendering software).
