CB at 10 Awards: Design Innovation of the Decade
Winner: Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch wins with 31.33 per cent. Nintendo always does this differently, it's why the game company's fans continue to love it products year after year. When Nintendo launches a new console you can bet it won't be a boring grey box. We love Nintendo's design ethos, take a look at our Nintendo Switch review and the comparison of Nintendo Switch vs Nintendo Switch OLED to see the differences of the new and old games consoles.
Launched in 2017, Nintendo Switch offers the best of both worlds – it's home console with TV output and a handheld console, now with a super-sharp OLED screen. It also mixes in Nintendo's unique approach to UX and UI design that uses a motion sensing, tactile feedback and detachable Joy-Con controllers to offer players original and physical ways to play games.
Nintendo Switch was something of a comeback for Nintendo after the misstep of the Wii U, which is a half-way house design choice between Wii and Switch – a rare lack of conviction saw the Wii U fail. But we're glad it did, because it forced Nintendo to focus and create the Nintendo Switch.
If you have a Nintendo Switch then take a look at our guide to the best Nintendo Switch games out now, as well as the best Nintendo Switch accessories to get more from this inventive console.
