Winner: Mastercard

The Mastercard logo redesign wins with 25.45 per cent. When Mastercard redesigned its logo in 2016 to remove the words Mastercard and reduce its design to a graphic, the design world stopped and took notice. Pentagram was the agency behind this bold move. It acknowledged the famous overlapping circles made Mastercard one of the most recognisable logos designs around, and promoted this aspect.

You can pick tips on how to achieve a similar impact in our how to design a logo guide and catch up on the biggest logo design trends to get an idea of what works. For example, Mastercard's logo design led the way by removing the interconnecting circles and instead blending them together for a simpler look.

At the time Mastercard's chief marketing and communications officer Raja Rajamannar said: "Today, it is all about connected-consumers, and digital is at the heart of enabling practically everything they do in all spheres of their lives." You can read more reaction from the time in our story, 'Designers react to the new Mastercard logo'.

If you want to improve your logo or logo design then you'll need some of the best best logo designer software, both free and paid for, which includes Affinity Designer and Canva. Adobe Illustrator is also excellent, and we have Adobe Illustrator tutorials to read and get a head start on the competition.
