If you grew up in the ’80s, like me, you were maybe obsessed with ZX Spectrum games, D&D, and models – I didn't get out much. Top of my dream list was the Tamiya Hornet, a priced-out-of-reach dune-wheeled RC car that just vibed with the times. On Black Friday, the Tamiya Hornet is reduced to $155 $129.68, and adult-me is closer than ever to getting my hands on one.

Nostalgia is a bug draw, and with 16% off, the Tamiya Hornet kit is suddenly within reach of both collectors and new builders alike. What you get here is the full classic kit – chassis, suspension, gearbox, wheels, and tyres – ready for assembly. I can only imagine there's a certain satisfaction in building it myself, tightening those screws, and watching the Hornet come to life.

Keep in mind, though, this is the model car and motor only; you'll need to spend extra on a steering servo, speed controller and radio and receiver. You'll need the Fine Spec 2.4G Electric RC Drive Set, priced $147.56, to get it running, or look for a bundle.

It's worth noting, if you're in the UK, there's a deal on the kit, but you can also buy a bundle that's ready to go, the Hornet and 2.4ghz Stick Radio set for £189.95.
